ok – so I am listening to Exile – liking the rawness – the skruddiness if you will, and I think – I’m gonna too! Fired up the kit and voila – ‘my friend jimmy’ hops out

my friend jimmy

My friend jimmy says he’s OK
Everyone I know just looks the other way

No matter how many pills he takes
No matter how many thrills he shakes
No matter how twisted up inside
He thinks he’s gonna go for the ride

My friend jimmy says he’s all right
Jimmy goes out stays up all night

Jimmy goes places that he shouldn’t go
Jimmy knows people that he shouldn’t know
Jimmy does things that he shouldn’t do
Jimmy’s messed up gonna make my heart through

Jimmy says it’s gonna be OK
Everyone I know just looks the other way

My friend jimmy says he’s OK
Everyone I know just looks the other way (3X)

new vox, new percussion, new and improved – presentable even….this will mark one of the finals for the album. I will be posting some other stuff here in the upcoming days – new songs that have been bubbling to the surface – dunno which will make final cut yet – but the album is nearly here

for man to rouse his spirit up –
It is the human creative agony,
Though but to hold the heart an empty cup,
Or tighten on the team a rigid reign.
Many will rather lie among the slain
Than creep through narrow ways the light to gain –
Than wake the will, and be born bitterly.

my lack of posts is not due to sloth – but rather a lot going on. This is actually a bad excuse – because what I have planned will include (God willing) a combination of work and blog. Have you ever heard the saying ‘if you have something that needs to be done, give it to a busy person’? Well this last week I was working on some spec work drum tracks and I made a work-flow discovery which will really have an effect on how I approach music. Without getting into too much detail, it had a real ‘aha’ effect on me – and it got me thinking about what I thought were my limitations, or boxes in music (and how they can be gotten out of). I might look at this as my BE and AE, short for Before Epiphany and After Epiphany. One of Gods great gifts to us is the gift of learning. I believe as Christians we are to learn daily about what it means to have a relationship with God, and in the work realm, a la Ecclesiastes 9:10, we are to approach our work with zeal and a sense of learning adventure. I am so amazed at how awesome my loving Lord is, and his gifts of music and the realms of muse that I gotta go write about it…

I hope you guys that are waiting for drums and production work can stay patient – I am trying to do a number of musical projects in a number of locations – I hope to be getting a few things out in the next day or 2. In the meantime – why not go on over and buy a song a few hundred times? Here is a little sketch named tentatively distant sounds

music, music, music, drumming and songwriting, preparing a band and looking for a name – may have a contest for that if we don’t get somewhere soon. Music and the muse, muso’s and the scene, Virgils in the pews, grass is gettin green, smoke is risin higher, fat is sizzlin hot, people do aspire, and I say why not, inspirations deeper, faith is in supply, gotta rouse the sleeper, blinking rubs his eyes.

go ahead and look under merchandise – the stuff rocks (or so I am told) – go on in, and get yourself something! There is also a guitar player version for those who shred the axe!
